I just wanted to apologize to many of you who have commented lately on my blogs or shared and I haven’t made the time to reply until tonight. I could offer countless excuses for my lapse, but suffice it to say, real life intervenes along with its many demands.

I read every single comment though, and honestly, I do appreciate some time to reflect upon the thoughts you all share here on each topic. I want to contemplate them at length before I reply, usually.

Sometimes I find I am more Christ-centered when I’ve taken this time to reflect on what you write in response to my posts, then if I immediately rush in to make a retort. I hope you understand that my taking a few days before I get back to you doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate your interest or the time you spent in sharing with me and everyone reading.

I also wish I had more time to read every single post some of you wonderful bloggers write….. if I read every one though, I would never be a decent mother and my home would be a complete sty; I’m sure you all know what I mean.

It’s difficult to keep up in the blogging world but I’m trying, peeps, so bear with me. I love you all so much and enjoy every post I’m able to read, comment on, or simply “like.”

Today was a sad day for me because they buried Whitney Houston. I watched her funeral. You see, I’ve always admired her acting and singing, and was a fan of many of the songs she sang so well.

Her death has brought her into the public view to the point that I’ve now learned many things about Whitney that I didn’t know before.  I don’t think I ever realized until she died how much Whitney loved God. Whitney Houston was a very religious person.

Despite her struggles with the carnality of the world and the flesh, Whitney always believed in and loved the Lord deeply. I admire this in her greatly.

I also think it’s interesting that a superstar performer like Whitney Houston, who had it all financially, still struggled personally with so many things that regular people struggle with daily. What saddens me even more than Whitney passing, though, are the rumors I heard about the “Christian” group known as the Westboro Baptist Church. Apparently, they threatened to picket Whitney Houston’s funeral and stir up a lot of nonsense related to a parody of her song, “I will always love you.” They were attempting to change the words of the song to “God will always hate you.”

These “Christian individuals” have no idea how much they are hurting the cause for Christ. I’m really very sad for them that they are so ignorant and deceived in their apparent self-righteousness. These truly are the vultures and vipers which Jesus railed at in His day; they are the Pharisees of the twenty-first century. Would Jesus approve of their tactics? Does God approve?   No way…not in my opinion.

God blesses the humble and the peacemakers. God doesn’t bless people who scream like wicked banshee’s in their judgmental perfection about the sins of others, to make themselves look like saints. God sees beyond this pretense directly into the heart. No one can lie about his or her own heart. God sees it all. He sees all the puffery, deceit, greed, treacherous jealousy, envy, and every dark thing within the nature of humanity.

Followers of Jesus Christ don’t exhibit their holiness by putting down their brothers and sisters in Christ; they flaunt their insecurities and weaknesses within their relationship with Him when they behave this way. We can only pray that the Westboro bunch are able to find even a measure of the grace that Whitney had in her relationship with our Lord Jesus.

Regardless of these silly fools, I know Whitney is being held safe and close within the arms of God today. And as was said at her televised funeral, “her death and funeral brought the world to church today,” thanks to her gracious mother and family. The whole world was able to hear a wonderful message about prioritizing God in our lives while we all mourned the passing of our sister in Christ Jesus.

It was a good message shared at her funeral, an important message, and one I’m sure Whitney would want everyone to hear now that she’s with our Father in Heaven. May God bless and keep her, and help those of us who are not perfect, like her, who still struggle, who dearly love God with all of our hearts and souls. God’s grace is here for us as it was and still is for her, as is His mercy, and His ever-loving forgiveness. We are ALL “good enough,” in God’s eyes, thanks to His Son, Jesus Christ.

What is happening to our America?

Will we stand up for ourselves, one at a time, when and as these kinds of situations are occurring to us and our families?

Standing up, speaking out, and making waves is what it’s going to take to turn things around. Going meekly along like sheeple will only get us more of the same. Fight back, Americans, fight back!

Outrage After School Tells Mom Her Child’s Lunch Is Unhealthy and Unacceptable

A mother is outraged after school officials told her 4-year-old daughter that her home-packed lunch was not healthy enough to eat. What was so unhealthy about her lunch? Trace Gallagher reported that a lunch inspector at the school told the girl she couldn’t eat her turkey sandwich, banana, potato chips and apple juice. Instead, providing the girl with a USDA-approved lunch with the following guidelines: one serving of meat, one serving of grains, and two servings of fruit or vegetables.

When the girl returned home from school, her unopened lunch contained a note from the school saying that her lunch didn’t meet the guidelines and a $1.25 bill for the replacement lunch. The mom was outraged and anonymously wrote to the local newspaper and called a state representative. The North Carolina representative called the school which apologized, because in fact the lunch did meet all the USDA requirements.

In her statement to the newspaper, the mother argues that the issue isn’t whether the lunch meets any requirements but rather says, “Don’t tell my kid I’m not packing her lunchbox properly. I pack her lunchbox according to what she eats.”

I believe that the prudent, wise Christian learns the basics about survival, camping, firearms, gardening, and prepares himself or herself for disaster, economic or otherwise.

One needn’t go to extremes to simply study the basics and store enough extra food for at least a minimum of thirty days. These days, it’s foolish not to be prepared and make certain that you and your family can sustain themselves in the event of an emergency like a power outage, a natural disaster, or worse.

I’ve put together some scriputral references that show us that biblically, God considers it wise for Christians to prepare for the unexpected.

I’ve also included some interesting sites and links that will help even the most clueless get prepared a little at a time, at your own rate, with what you can afford to stock up on and buy as you’re able.

If you were Buddhist, you would be filtering all of your life experiences to confirm your Buddhist beliefs. If you were Hindu you would be filtering all of your life experiences to confirm your Hindu beliefs. If you practiced African Bantu witchcraft you would be filtering all of your life experiences to confirm your….um…. beliefs.

What you believe, you will find proof to support that belief. That is how the human mind works.

Every religion claims that they are the only true and right one. Every religion says that their people are special or chosen. Every religion tries to keep their people isolated from “non-believers”.

You should all read about many other religions, the Koran for example, reads much like the bible. A lot of the same cast. Lots of non-believers going to hell, and only the true believers being rewarded with paradise. Their religion came after yours. You should read about some of the ones that were around before yours.

And here is my response to Mike:

I was a little surprised by your referral of myself and the rest of us Christians as “poor people.” You ask if we want to break our shackles and be free. You ask what we will do if we’ve wasted all of this time and energy and there are no gods or devils.

I care enough about what you’re asking, Mike, to clarify my feelings in-depth for you so that there can be no doubt.

I’m hardly poor; I actually consider myself to be quite rich. You cannot see my material wealth, perhaps because it is on the inside of myself and is not easily viewed, but I’m really very happy in my life and contented. I am fulfilling my destiny. I believe that destiny is to serve God according to His purposes and desires for my life and finally, after much lengthy introspection, this is what I’m doing.

What you may not understand is that long ago when I chose to know and turn to God and begin a relationship with Him, my entire life really began at that point. I stepped into a great adventure. On this adventure, anything and everything has been possible and I have received the desires of my heart. I will continue to receive what I most dream of and that which will make me most happiest if I keep on the path that He wills for me to follow. There is no “waste of time” here, Mike.

If, at the end of my time on this planet, I find that there is no God, no Satan, and that everything was simply an illusion/delusion, I will not regret one moment of my choice to follow Jesus Christ, to live as God has had me to live. I won’t ever regret living my life to please God.

The way I live is good for me. The positives are incredible and are good for my body, mind, spirit, and emotional nature. The Christian lifestyle is healthy for one’s family and children too. This is a wonderful way to live!

I live a settled, stable life that brings me peace of mind, humor, inner satisfaction and happiness, a feeling of intense well-being, the knowledge that I am always protected and cared for, and I am never alone. Nothing can happen to me that God doesn’t allow to happen and God turns everything to my good, even when things may seem to the contrary.

I have a relationship that brings me fulfillment and happiness. I feel loved and guided by my Heavenly Father. Were I to be all wrong and there is no such thing, I wouldn’t regret one minute of what I’ve experienced and lived. There would be no wasted time and energies; do you understand that I would change nothing? Nothing.

I wasn’t born into a Christian-believing family; it was the opposite, in fact. My life took many desperate turns from a very young age until I finally met God and surrendered to Him at the age of sixteen.  I strayed from the path over the next many years more times than I can tell you, but I’ve always returned like the prodigal son in the bible. The last three to four years, I’ve  been choosing the narrow path that leads to a closer  walk with Him. My love for God just keeps growing with every day that passes; I’m not poor in any way, shape, or form. I’m not in bondage or shackles, Mike.

I don’t care what the other religions do or believe because I’ve done my share of studying them over these years. I believe Jesus Christ walked the earth, was crucified, died, and rose again so that I could really live. He died so that I would have opportunity to be free from the bondage of sin and be forgiven if I will but believe on Him and repent of my wrong doings.

I’m not aware of any other religion offering me that. Through Jesus Christ, I have eternal life with God and the saints. I will experience Heaven. There will be no more pain, evil, sickness, or tears. I will live in the wondrous presence of Holy God for all eternity. 

You have the same opportunities for all of this as I do if you will just reach out and take what is offered, but you can’t have the foggiest idea of what this is all about and how it feels until you do. In the interim, you’re way off from the truth of this matter and what it’s really like for me and countless of others. I hope that one day you will be blessed enough to find out for yourself how incredible this life is and how I wouldn’t change a moment of it for anything this earth could offer me. I hope one day you’ll know what I mean, Mike. May God make Himself known to you so that you’ll understand. Thank you for your comment and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and concerns with me.
