Truly, You Are the Son of God

And so Jesus came to the disciples in the midst of the violent storm, walking on the water. And they were very afraid, but Jesus asked them not to be frightened. Peter was amazed and astonished, asking Jesus if he might walk out to join Jesus on the water. Jesus said to come ahead.  Peter was soon walking upon the sea as well.

Suddenly, Peter was overcome with fear as he begin to sink. He took his eyes off of Jesus, calling out in angst. Calming the wind and the sea, Jesus moved to him swiftly, murmuring gently, “Oh, ye of little faith.”  The disciples were surely convinced after this miracle and knew that Jesus really was the son of God.

During our own storms and trials when the sea is rough and we are terrified, we may call out to the Lord as well.

He is there always. Like Peter, we reach out and start to move toward Him, or we can sink if we take our eyes off of Jesus. We have to trust in Him and have faith. He will eventually calm every storm of life if we just believe and trust in Him. We can trust in ourselves too because of His love for us. We can weather any difficulty. The key is faith.

  1. One of the most unsettling, even disturbing conundrum in all my spiritual experience is the question of what is the call or will of God. It was resolved finally confirmed to me over time in the most elegant revelation as Christ. We are called to be sons of God and inherit the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. The ramafications of this is so far reaching that Jesus said the very least in my kingdom is greater than Moses. The existential fact of God is given to us as a gift to be our identity, and to do the works of God in the ministry of reconciling the world unto God, as God was doing in Christ doing and has left for us to do in his absence.

Today folks think that being born again encompasses all that God has for man, apart from the “ in the sweet, by and by” life to come, In truth there is a whole world of living that follows as consequence of being born again. This new kind of life into which we are born is explored about as much as the new world before Christopher Columbus did the heavy lifting of expanding our horizons; which is to say this world is not explored at all. As glorious as the born again experience is, it only gains us entrance into a life where the miraculous is to be as commonplace as the air one breathes moment by moment.

  2. I love this! Great retelling of the story and really powerful to see the video. Thank you, warrioress!

Lord Jesus, increase our faith!! We believe. Forgive our unbelief. Let us never take our eyes off of you and never doubt you. In your mighty name – Amen.

  3. Amen!

  4. Thank you all for your comments and for liking and reading. I’m so glad you enjoyed this. I thought the video was powerful too.

  5. New Genesisres, thank you so much for that beautiful comment and I agree with you in everything you’ve said here. This life is just impossible to verbalize for me because it’s a living classroom with God teaching the syllabus. I never know what to expect next though! His wisdom is amazing and astonishing in the way that He leads. I never tire of this way of living and find it to be so wondrous and peaceful, even during the more difficult moments. I have never been so happy in my life.
