Good Christian Bitches

GCB (TV series)

GCB stands for “Good Christian Bitches.”

This is a new television show on ABC,  Sunday nights.

This show mocks America’s Christians.

Surprise, surprise….

This is just another straw on the camel’s back that makes it clear that we’re spiraling down as a nation, as a world, into the muck.

Reminds me of the primary message of this man’s blog, “Now the End Begins.”  His blog makes it clear through many examples where we’re at, biblically speaking in America and this world. It is pretty sobering stuff, in my opinion.

Christians should and probably will take notice, but the unbelieving most likely won’t recognize or accept the signs; it’s all just more coincidence and life changes due to differences in religious demographics and more and more people moving away from religion, in their perspective. What they don’t recognize is that this is yet another promise within the bible that is now happening. People are losing their religion.

When Hollywood puts a television show on Sunday night during the family viewing hours that actually denigrates the religious beliefs of the majority in America, it’s time that we awaken from our trance, I think. Not only does this disgusting offering denigrate Christian religious beliefs, but it insults, demeans, and mocks the religious themselves. Since when is this all right on the local channels between 7pm – 10pm?

There’s pretty much nothing sacred anymore.

Christian publisher Tessie DeVore told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column that the show, which features the tagline “For Heaven’s sake, don’t let God get in the way of a good story!” could put Christians in an unfairly bad light.

“I find the title offensive. I don’t think those two words should be combined,” she said. “A show like this can damage perceptions [of Christians in this country].”

It also could be a slippery slope for future shows, said Melissa Henson, director of communications and public education for the Parents’ Television Council tells Tarts.

“In the past, we’ve raised concerns about changing language standards for television,” Henson said. “Once a particular profanity or obscenity has been embraced by a particular show, it quickly becomes mainstream.”

And Yana Walton from the Women’s Media Center said Christians aren’t the only ones who should be upset.

“It is not an appropriate term to use to describe any woman, regardless of their faith,” Walton said. “Entertainment media, especially music and films, have been normalizing misogynistic language for years.”

But despite the seemingly outrageous title, Dan Gainor, head of the Culture and Media Institute, is not surprised that the pilot has gone this far already.

“ABC is doubling down on the offensive by also approving ‘Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23,’ following up on the CBS show ‘$#*! My Dad Says.’ And this continued decline is unsurprising,” he said.

“The media keeps trying to redefine words and morality to mean what they say, not what they really do mean,” Gainor added. “One wonders which network will be the first to drop the F-bomb in a TV title and whether the FCC will even intervene.”

Even if the title holds up, some are looking forward to the show.

“ABC’s core viewership is Christian, so the goal of the show won’t be to attack Christianity. Just like the book, this is a show by Christians, for (mostly) Christians, to enjoy a little prime-time self-deprecation,” Los Angeles-based entertainment expert, Jenn Hoffman said.

A representative for ABC declined to comment on the story.

  1. Satan is the god of this world and like the Titanic, the world is sinking. We need to pray for those who haven’t found Christ yet, that they would learn to cling to Him and not the world.

  2. Thank you for sharing this as I never knew what this show was about as I channel surfed and only heard GCB every time until I seen it last night. My husband said ” this is the show I kept telling you about that has Christians in an uproar.” If you can’t tell, I don’t watch much tv in general. Needless to say, I watched not even a full sketch that ended in mouth drop. I shook my head.

This world is twisted and will use any thing to sugarcoat the truth, portray evil in humorous entertainment and justify curse words and how they are used. This is exactly why my husband and I scan what our children watch.

Anything for a buck. Networks will sell their souls for the almighty dollar. Women losing their integrity to take on roles that give them the spotlight. How sickening.

May we as Christians beware and be on the look out for the schemes of the evil one. May we pray that viewers do not take to this kind of entertainment as leisure non threatening pass time. It’s too easy to get caught up if our minds aren’t right.

Thanks again for sharing this. Blessings to you this day…..

  3. This is a show that attacks Christian values and all women. In order for it to succeed it needs viewers to pick up the ratings and sponsors to keep it on the air. I think if no one watched the show and boycotted the sponsors it will go away.

This is one of the main reasons my family stays away from network television. We refuse to watch anything that attacks Christian values.

  4. I agree. Am so disappointed in Kristen Chenowith.

  5. I totally agree…just one step nearer and what makes me made is, if that would have been the title from any other religion…it wouldn’t fly! I wish Christians would wake up from their slumber and discen what is going on. All we can do is pray and STAND! I myself will refuse to watch this mockery and I pray others will follow in that stance. I was just about to write about this on my site and still will…God Bless YOU…keep fighting the GOOD FIGHT!

  6. Sorry about the misspelled words…should have looked it over before sending it.

  7. Incredible, was not even aware of this show. We must stay alert because the signs are all around us. God bless.

  8. This is disgusting. I can’t believe…actually, I can believe this is happening. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Now I have to calm down before I write something I’ll regret.

  9. For what it’s worth, the show doesn’t seem to be getting very good reviews.

Personally, I think it sounds awful.

  10. This show is scheduled for Australian viewing next month. There have been a number of petitions presented to the channel, asking for AT LEAST the title to be changed. I was instrumental in starting a petition among our own Church people. Channel 7 is adamant it will go to air as proposed, but our God is able.
The one good thing about the program (if there can be any good) is that it could present an opportunity (if spoken of by friends, acquaintances etc) to witness of the REALITIES of Christianity.

  11. It is really sad. “When nothing is scared, all is consumed.” -Jon Foreman

  12. Thanks all of you for commenting on this…

I was astonished to see this show actually viewing, considering what the initials stand for. I am still amazed that the show hasn’t been cancelled yet.

We are living in times that promise to get a whole lot worse. I agree that we should remain in prayer daily for the world and those who are unable to see what’s happening in front of our very eyes.
