If I Were The Devil…

Devil-1 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The above video is something every person should watch and consider. It makes a lot of sense.  We all have different beliefs on the existence of evil, also known as the devil, Satan, the adversary, Lord of the Flies, the serpent, the Father of Lies, Lilith, Samael, Lucifer.

Does he exist or doesn’t he?

Some think he’s a convenient scapegoat so that people don’t have to accept responsibility for their unfortunate choices and poor judgment. Some say that if you believe in God, you must also believe in Satan, because how can you have one without the other?

Isn’t it strange that the narrator of this You Tube video, (Paul Harvey), made this little chat back in the sixties, so many years ago? How did he know how things were going to be in America? He seems to have nailed the state of our union, hasn’t he?

  1. I think one of the popes, Pius?, said something to that effect in the late 1800’s–that the 20th century’s biggest problem was going to be the denial of evil and sin because that will open the door to rationalizing every single sin. That quote from the Usual Suspects reminds me of that. I could look it up if you need me to. Thanks for the post, warrior.

  2. An excellent post and video. The amazing thing is that it’s all true! Has the world been duped by Satan? Of course it has. Remember Satan has been given authority for a season but when Christ returns………you know the rest.

  3. Satan doesn’t want you to believe he exists…but God’s word says different.

  4. I can’t watch videos with my connection, but if I were the devil I’d just keep on doing what he’s been doing. We have to admit – sadly – that he is doing a pretty good job.

Thankfully, in the life of one who is an adopted, blood-bought child of God, he is a defeated for. When we submit to our God, and resist the devil, he has to flee.

Our responsibility is to let those who do not know the Lord Jesus hear the Good News and see the victorious life possible for them.

  5. I don’t think that the denial of Satan necessarily has harmful consequences.

Many people who deny that Satan exists still believe that there is much that is wrong with society – much that ought to be fixed. Indeed, one might argue that we cannot truly begin to fix our problems until we understand their proper origin, rather than blaming them on mythological creatures.

  6. I wonder which is worse, to use “God” to tell people what you dislike or to use “Satan”. Look, we can all dislike things with out attaching “God” or “Satan” to our story. We can all value love and kindness without trying this jargon. This jargon just shuts down real dialogue and is only meant for in-house “amens!”. For when people realize the anti-Satan preacher is lying, and is having sex with boys, embezzling money, having affairs with church members or emotionally abusing folks, they will realize that all the Satan talk and the God talk was just props — and they’d be right.

  7. Hi, Lame Housewife:

“I think one of the popes, Pius?, said something to that effect in the late 1800′s–that the 20th century’s biggest problem was going to be the denial of evil and sin because that will open the door to rationalizing every single sin. I would agree that America rationalizes sin and evil; we can see that right here on this very blog by some of our commentors. Some think that we’re actually making progress and moving forward in America, despite how things are going, that Paul Harvey pointed out directly in this video. I guess it all depends upon one’s perspective and what they consider “progress.”

Personally, I don’t think that destroying traditional values/morality is moving forward. School shootings and mass murder isn’t progressive. Turning America toward socialism/communism isn’t progressive. Creating a welfare state of the nation isn’t progress. I could go on and on, but Paul Harvey does it better. Thanks, LH!

  8. Hi Butch!

“Satan doesn’t want you to believe he exists…but God’s word says different.”

You summed everything up with that comment, Butch. Well said.

  9. Hi Shirley!

It is all true, Shirley. I’m so glad that Satan has limited time to wreak his havoc; it’s just so sad watching him in action, though. Thanks for sharing, Shirley.

  10. It would be nice if we could learn from the mistakes made in the 20th century, that is for sure…

  11. Hi Meeting in the Clouds:

That’s exactly what Paul Harvey said on the video, Meeting. He said he would just keep right on doing what the devil’s been doing. What’s sad to me is that there are those who think what’s happening in America is beneficial for America and Americans; I don’t get this mindset, though, but it’s one way of perceiving things, I guess. Thanks for sharing, Meeting.

  12. Hi Keith:

“I don’t think that the denial of Satan necessarily has harmful consequences.

“Mythological creatures….?” It’s simply a point of view, Keith. You can’t wrap your mind around the unexplainable or something you cannot analyze scientifically, but there’s already proof that it’s out there. You may not believe in it, but that doesn’t mean you’re correct. Some things are true no matter what *you* believe. Thanks for sharing!

The video is about Satan and how he has impacted America, Sabio; that’s the topic.

It was done by a man named Paul Harvey back in the sixties. How do you think he knew how America would tank as it has? This “jargon,” is what we believe is reality. The anti-Satan preacher doing all of the things you mention isn’t anti-Satan at all; he’s playing right into Satan’s hands and may actually no longer even be a Christian, if he ever was one to begin with. Again, you’re of the same point of view as Keith and I’m not trying to convince you of my point of view or even persuade you to it — I’m merely sharing a video that points out exactly what’s happening in America today as what is predicted back in the sixties by Paul Harvey who says what he would do, if he were Satan. Exactly what Paul Harvey said he would do if he were Satan is now occurring in America and has been. Thanks for your thoughts!

  14. @ the warrioress,
I think the video is about how people use the word “Satan” to tell about what they dislike and how it will affect America. I imagine many other made predictions and were correct too — yet they did not have to use Satan or God to justify their predictions.

You can be right in predictions for all the wrong reasons. He pointed out problems — that may be fine, but to attribute them to “Satan” was the problem — great rhetoric for believers, but pure manipulations. But from comments here, I can tell many agree with you. So since there is no way to test if your belief in Satan influencing anything bad that happens on the planet, we can not argue.

  15. Very interesting.. nice video too

  16. Thanks, StormRider!

Obviously, Paul Harvey believes the bible. He and I believe that evil is behind what is occurring within America and to Americans. However, there is no way to prove my pov or yours, so you’re correct… no point in arguing either really.
