“Far From Home”
Another night settles in as quickly as it goes
The memories of shadows, ink on the page
And I can’t seem to find my way home
Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything
To keep me out
All the places I’ve been and things I’ve seen
A million stories that made up a million shattered dreams
The faces of people I’ll never see again
And I can’t seem to find my way home
Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything to break me down
Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything to keep me out
[Guitar Solo]
Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything to break me down
Cause it’s almost like
Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything to break me down
To break me down
To break me down
Your heaven’s trying everything
Your heaven’s trying everything to break me down
My take on this song:
It is when we are broken down that our hearts become humbled and completely open to God above. Pride, rebellion, earthly knowledge, ego…all of these can prevent a connection with the Most High.
When we are at our most humble, when desperate and seeking Him with a whole heart, He will be found. Once we make contact, we realize He was always there the entire time. He was simply waiting on us to come to Him.
God is not that far from anyone. And we are never that far from home. Reach out. Cry out His name with a sincere, believing heart. He promises that He will be found. There is no need to experience the hopeless feelings expressed within this fine song when it comes to God or Heaven above.

How can we cry out if we don’t know that we need something? And how can we experience that need without being a bit crushed?

“Let the children come to Me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I assure you, anyone who doesn’t have their kind of faith will never get into the Kingdom of God.” – Mark 10:14-15 NLT
Hi Erickeys,
I believe that we all internally know on some level that we need something. We’re all missing that particular “something,” and that something is God. I agree with you that we may wind up being a bit crushed before we find Him. Sometimes it takes the breaking down of our ego to be able to become like a child, with child-like faith. When we really believe that something is there, waiting for us, like a child believes, He is found.
When we’re cynical, unbelieving, angry, arrogant, ego-oriented & full of pride, God remains aloof. We have to come to God with an open heart and child-like faith.
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (Mark 10:15 NIV)
