Jesus and Judgment

Paul on gay rights

I recently joined a Christian blogging site where an immense amount of time is spent discussing homosexuality, in terms of judging it as sin or not. Personally, homosexuality is a very difficult topic to discuss with other believers, especially those inclined to a legalistic approach. If one’s walk with Jesus is about dotting all the i’s and crossing every t, it is clear to me that this kind of relationship with Christ borders on a salvation of works, or trying to be good enough, (something of which I know I will never be in this lifetime on this particular plane, though of course I do still endeavor to please our Lord).

I don’t believe the sin itself is particularly important; in other words, it is not the sin that is at issue, it is how I and other believers deal with the sinner himself, that is of primary concern in a life of following Jesus Christ. My concern is the way that the Christian person deals with the sinner, no matter the sin!

I think Jesus deals with each one of us internally and very directly when it comes to our individual sins and we are in relationship with Him. The Holy Spirit convicts and nudges at our conscience. We are dealt with quite personally and effectively, so the role of other believers piling on and taking our personal sin inventory uninvited, seems extreme and even unnecessary a lot of the time, yet it happens a lot in Christianity today.

I’m not sure why judging other’s walk with Christ is such a focal point of Christianity, but people are a lot more concerned about sin in other people’s lives than they are in their own life. Perhaps obsessively focusing upon, critiquing, and judging another’s sin is a way of attempting to come to terms with how to deal with one’s own life of sin as an active believer.

It  would make sense and explain why Jesus said that the measure by which  we judge others will be the measure we are judged by. Are we as Christians merciful, compassionate, an understanding in regard to another’s sins? Or do we self-righteously look down from a lofty perch at those who are not holding up as well as we perceive that we are, in the endless earthly battle against sin?

And what of those who have never even met Christ? Are Christians to mock, slander and judge the unbelieving and their multitudes of sin?

I wrote you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people. In no way did I mean the immoral people of this world, or the greedy and swindlers and idolaters, since you would then have to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who calls himself a Christian who is sexually immoral, or greedy, or an idolater, or verbally abusive, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person. For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Are you not to judge those inside? But God will judge those outside. Remove the evil person from among you.

– 1 Corinthians 5: 9 -13

It seems clear that too many Christ-followers have forgotten Paul’s entreaty in the verses above. I note them everywhere I go, judging the sinner, persecuting the unbelieving, hating not just the sin, but the sinner himself. I don’t believe Jesus is pleased.

Ed cuts right to the heart of the problem. Now if we can just get all the Christians to listen up…

Ed Christian's World

Our Country, as like the rest of the world, is broken. It is filled with violence and killings. The time has come for us to turn this around, but how we do it depends on how well you follow your Christian teachings.

15Proverbs 15:1 Teaches us that a soft word turns away wrath and that responding to evil with evil only brings more evil.

Time and time again we have watched people respond to violence with more violence and what has it gotten us? More violence! When will we as Christians wake up and respond to this?

First Timothy chapter 6 teaches us to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness and gentleness. We are to do these things at all times using gentleness to turn wrath around and to bring peace to our lives as well as to others.

Our political leaders, in the name of National Security, have…

While I regret and grieve the loss of the five policemen in Dallas, I also recognize that I am tired of praying, crying, and waiting for necessary change. I don’t want one more death by gun/cop because of the color of a man’s skin! I am tired. TIRED. I will not unify and pretend that everything will be okay; things will not be okay, and most especially if someone like Trump becomes president. I am sick and tired of Christians who are not Christian. I am tired of alleged “patriots,” who claim to love America but hate Americans.

No more prayer, no more sweeping this under the rug. No more police brutality. I want a role model for president…someone who is loving and kind, not hyped up on speed or mania! I want to feel safe in my country. More than anything though, I am tired of being afraid of the people whom I pay taxes to protect and serve –  me and my brothers and sisters, black, brown, yellow, and white.  NO MORE OF THIS!!!!

Gossip, Lies, & Slander

Do you pass around gossip, lies, and slander on the internet?

Do you share absolute untruths with others on Facebook and claim these tidbits of maliciousness are valid researched truth? How can you prove beyond any doubt that the slander or twisted gossip you share is truth?

Do you hate anyone so much that you find reason to gossip, lie about, and slander him publicly on a regular basis through the internet, via social media, or in person?

Do you consider yourself to be a “follower of Jesus Christ?” A Christian?

Do you profess to love God?

What does the Word of God, the Holy Bible, tell us about this kind of behavior and these kind of unloving actions taken by foolish men and women who claim Christianity?

“I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,” Matthew 12:36

“The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool.” Proverbs 10:18

“Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure.” Psalms 10:15

“Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.” James 4:11

“To speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.” Titus 3:2

“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” Exodus 20:16

“You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.” Exodus 23:1

“There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” Proverbs 6:16-19

“They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips,” Romans 1:29

It may be time to repent and change your tune.

“Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the throng of evildoers, who whet their tongues like swords, who aim bitter words like arrows, shooting from ambush at the blameless, shooting at him suddenly and without fear.” Psalms 64:2-4

“But no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:8

Walk in the Spirit

This is a posting shared in the past, but it seems important today.

life of a female bible warrior

Walking in the Fruit of the Holy Spirit

“Nothing will draw nonbelievers and believers alike to the Lord than a truly sanctified saint in the Lord who is walking and operating in all 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit. If you are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to work and transmit all 9 of these fruits up into your personality to some appreciable degree in this life – you will then become a light that will literally radiate the presence of God Himself through your soul and personality.

You have no idea how many people you will be able to save, touch, witness to, and help disciple if you have these fruits operating through you. These fruits will give you a credibility with God and with other people that no degree or title can give you in this life. This sanctification process is the ultimate, highest aim and goal…

The Sounds of Silence

It is so important to learn how to really connect with God. What could be more important?

Ed Christian's World

Is there really anything so silent that you can’t hear it? Not really, even silence has a sound, if you listen closely.

The song by Simon and Garfunkel, “The Sound of Silence” is thought to be about the inability of people to communicate emotionally and spiritually with each other and God.

In reality I think it has a far deeper meaning than our inability to communicate with God or to recognise those whispers in our ears as His words. The truth is we turn off listening to others as well as with God. We have some preconceived notion that no one listens to us so why pay attention to others. That and the fact people today are so wrapped up in their social media program, the hardly notice the world going on around them.

Paul Simon originally wrote the song back in 1964 as an intro for his group early…

Just Tired

This blogger, John Pavlovitz,is reading my mind and heart. There is no way to reblog him so I am linking you to his words, which are said with great passion, without restraint. We need it badly.

The blog is “Stuff that needs to be said.”

Amen to that!

So Proud of Target!

I just wanted to stop and pen a brief posting on how proud I am of Target! I have always shopped at Target, but now I’m inclined to shop there every opportunity I get because it has led the way in standing up to biased, bigoted, uneducated, illiterate mentalities that are attempting to cause trouble and drama, for absolutely no rational reason whatsoever! Right now, there are many who claim religion, who claim Jesus Christ, who thrive on creating chaos and upset, rather than being a light leading to God, our Father in Heaven.

Trust me, if you open your bible, you’ll quickly see that Jesus Christ would have been the first one to join the transgendered using the restroom of their choosing; I assure you also that He would not have lectured them about their alleged sins in the process either. Don’t believe anyone who tells you differently. They absolutely cannot prove it scripturally.

Turn to the biblical story of the woman who was the adulterous sinner, who was about to be stoned to death. [see bible story  ]

Jesus insisted that those around her cast the first stone if they were without sin. It wasn’t surprising to find no one there to stone the woman as Jesus waited. As for sin or not, Jesus handles sin — we don’t. It’s not our place to hammer the unbelievers about their sin. It’s our place to lead them to know Jesus Christ; they can come to be convicted by their sin after they get saved and began to know Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Stop putting the cart before the horse, religious right, legalistic Christians. You are driving thousands away from Jesus, not to Him. He’s got to be getting sick of it by now!

I have done numerous postings about the transgendered. I have explained that discriminating and trying to punish the transgendered is akin to punishing someone with a disability or a birth defect. I pity those who are harming these innocents; I think Jesus Christ is not at all pleased with your behavior and you are in danger of hellfire if anybody is. You are supposed to know better! Do you not the read the bible you say you adhere to? Evidently not.

We must stand up to the religious bullies of our land, of our world. We must stand up to the uneducated, uninformed, belligerent imbeciles. We cannot sit idly by and allow people to mistreat others rampantly without a word in their defense. If I ever see someone picking on the transgendered in my presence, it would be better for them if that millstone Jesus talked about dragged them under the water entirely. I don’t tolerate abuse of the downtrodden or the underdog!

Now, for those good Christians who think I’m on my way to hell, who are sure I’m backsliding or filled with the devil, or whatever .. I highly suggest you get into that bible of yours and read without the blinders on. You are given explicit instruction not to judge those who are not saved, and for good measure, learn to judge WITH LOVE those who are. Until then, pluck out that gi-normous PLANK within your own eyes, please, and keep quiet! You won’t have time for anything else after you finish that, trust me.

the broad highway

The Broad Highway

Matthew 7:13-14King James Version (KJV)

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

There is an utterly horrific site on the internet where “the Pharisees ” congregate. I wrestled with myself as to whether to even name it and give it traffic, but it is important that it be seen, purely as an example of HOW NOT TO BE A FOLLOWER OF JESUS CHRIST.

The people flocking to this huge site, using its opinion forums, are deluded by the false teachings and beliefs of the world’s “Christians.” These people are not the Body of Christ! They are not even close to anything Jesus preached or asked us to be. Unfortunately though, millions of them think they are the real thing, and so they perpetuate and feed one another and thus they continue to grow in number.

The Bible says “narrow is the path that leads to heaven, and few there be who find it, ” but broad is the highway leading to the other place,” and it is broad and wide if you look at that site and the numbers who congregate there preaching apostacy.

How do I know it’s apostacy/false teaching? The way they act and the things they say do not line up with anything the Bible says, or Jesus preached! What these people stand for and support are teachings of Ayn Rand, not teachings of Jesus Christ.

These are warmongers, and people who thrive on murder, killing, bloodshed, and hate. They are racists, bigots, and selfish to the core. They don’t care for the poor, sick, elderly, homeless, or struggling. They don’t care about the planet, wildlife, or environmental damage we are doing to this place God set us as stewards over.

If one really looks at the fruit the people of the lie put out here, one will note that the fruit is rotten! Wake up before it’s too late. Wipe the blindness from your eyes. I ask that you begin to see, in the holy name of Jesus! Please do not be fooled.

We must pray for the millions who are misled and for those who are misleading others. If something in your heart tells you “this can’t be Jesus,” wake up because it isn’t!
